About the restaurant
Gijang King Crab Village (기장대게마을) in Yeonhwa-ri, Gijang-gun, is a seaside strip of dozens of king crab and snow crab specialist restaurants, all facing the clean East Sea coast. Tanks at every entrance overflow with live crabs of all sizes — pick yours and they are steamed or cooked to order. The peak season runs from November to May when the crabs are fattest and most flavourful. Beyond steamed crab, restaurants also serve haemul tang (spicy seafood stew), crab porridge, and crab roe bibimbap. The scenic coastal drive from Haeundae to Gijang along the cliff road passes Gijang Daebyon Port and Juseongni Beach — plan a half-day trip combining all three.
