Dongnae Pajeon Alley
About the restaurant
Dongrae Pajeon Alley in Dongrae-gu is dedicated to Dongrae-style pajeon — a thick, generously stuffed Korean savory pancake that is officially designated as a Busan intangible cultural food heritage. Unlike thin Seoul pajeon, the Dongrae version is pressed thick with scallions, seafood, beef, and mushrooms, creating a custardy interior and crispy browned exterior. It was historically served at the Joseon court and at ceremonial banquets in Dongrae. Today a lane of veteran pajeon restaurants maintain the tradition, each with their own house recipe. The classic pairing is Dongrae pajeon with a stone bowl of dongdongju (unfiltered rice wine) — especially atmospheric on a rainy afternoon. Combine with Dongrae Oncheon hot springs for a full Dongrae day.
