Goraesa Fish Cake
About the restaurant
Goraesa Eo-muk (고래사어묵) is one of Busan's most beloved fish cake brands, founded in 1963 and proudly preserving the city's fish cake heritage for over 60 years. Busan fish cakes (eo-muk or odeng) are made from ground white fish — pollock or cod — mixed with starch and fried or steamed into various shapes. Goraesa's version is notable for its high fish content, firm texture, and absence of preservatives. At the flagship store, you can eat hot fish cake skewers from the broth pot (500 won each), try the spicy stir-fried variety, or pick up vacuum-packed souvenir sets. Busan fish cakes trace their history to Japanese odeng introduced during the colonial period and then reinvented by Busan's own culinary identity.
