Haedong Seongchwisa Temple Overview
The Haetong Seongchui Temple, located in Gijang-gun, Busan Metropolitan City, was established in 2000 and features a Daewong Pavilion, a Jijang Pavilion, a Yosa Chamber, and a mountain deity pavilion in a cave form. The abbot of Uam, Su-jeong, has inherited and practiced the Bongyum Bonpa (Bodhi sound chanting), a traditional Korean Buddhist vocal practice, to preserve and transmit Buddhist teachings. The Bongyum Bonpa, a unique Korean Buddhist vocal tradition, conveys the Buddha's teachings from mouth to mouth, and during rituals such as yebul and Buddhist ceremonies, one may hear heavenly sounds.
