Anjeoksa Temple (Busan) Overview

Beomeosa Temple, located in Gijang-eup, Gijang-gun, Busan Metropolitan City, is the head temple of the 14th Gyeongju District of the Korean Buddhist Sect of the Jogye Order. The temple is a site where the teachings and practices of Wonhyo and Yisang were passed down through generations and has historically been recorded as one of the four most prominent temples in Gijang County. It was originally established by Wonhyo, a master of the Silla Dynasty. After Gwangbok, the temple was lost or abandoned, and later rebuilt to its current form. The temple complex includes ten buildings, centered around the Daewongjeon. The Daewongjeon is a building with a three-bay front and three-bay side, featuring a pagoda-style roof. It was constructed around 1990 and houses a statue of Amitabha Buddha in a seated posture, as well as statues of Guanyin Bodhisattva and Daseong Bodhisattva.
