Catholic Theme Street Overview
The section from the main gate of Jisan High School in Bugok-dong, Geumjeong-gu, Busan, to near the main gate of the Catholic University is known as the 'Catholic Specialized Street'. This is because it is home to Catholic-related institutions such as the Korean Martyrs' Blessed Sisters, the Oryundae Korean Martyrs' Museum and the Congregation of St. John the Apostle, including a Catholic university and high school, as well as the motherhouses of two women's religious congregations, a holy site, and welfare and retreat facilities. On the wall of Jisan High School, historical events of the Korean Catholic Church are carved, from the periods of persecution and revival to the present day. The symbols that make up the specialized street include an eagle, a church and a religious order.
