Site of Namseon Warehouse Overview

Namseon Changgo-tor was the first logistics warehouse in Hamgyong-do, where goods were transported by ship and stored, initially known as Bokseon Changgo. It served as a storage facility before the transportation of goods from Gangwon Line to Seoul. After the establishment of the Gyeongwon Line, a northern warehouse was built in the upper region, and the name was subsequently changed to Namseon Changgo. Namseon Changgo, Busan's first modern logistics warehouse, was established in Choryang-dong by Choryang-gakju Political Committee in 1900. During a time when refrigeration facilities were absent, it used a system of installing channels on the floor to remove moisture and maintain a cool environment. Unlike the old Baekje Hospital next to it, which was demolished in 2009, only a red brick wall remains today. Until liberation, it was primarily used as Mingtae Changgo, also known as Mingtae Gobang. Subsequently, it has served as a general warehouse for storing chemicals, plywood, shoes, goods brought by Russian traders, and household appliances, following the trend of industrial and economic changes in Busan.
