Yeondaebong Peak, Gadeokdo Island
Yeondaebong Peak, Gadeokdo Island Overview
Gadeokdo Island is the largest of the islands belonging to Busan; it is believed to have been inhabited since the Neolithic period and is an island that has witnessed Korea's painful history, from the Imjin War to the Japanese colonial period. Yeondaebong Peak, 459 meters above sea level, is a mountain you can climb and return from in 2–3 hours; it is not very high and not difficult to climb, yet from the summit you can experience a feeling and a view as if you had climbed a high mountain. With its gentle slopes, it is well suited for light family hikes, and as you approach the summit you can see the sea around Gadeokdo Island and the Geoga Bridge at a glance. At the summit of Yeondaebong Peak, you can see the Beacon Tower where fires were lit when Japanese invaders were first spotted during the Imjin War. It is a place where you can feel the charms of the mountains and the sea at the same time.
