The Free Market located in Beomil-dong, the central district of Busan, is a traditional wholesale market serving mainly ordinary citizens and small merchants from Gyeongsang and North and South Korea. It sells products at wholesale prices to general consumers, allowing anyone to purchase necessary items at low prices. The market building is a 10,000-square-meter structure with 1,000 shops spanning underground floor 1 and above ground floors 1 to 5. The shops concentrated on the first floor are of such scale in Busan that they stand out as the top choice, and the Free Market's shoe wholesale is widely known throughout the country.
The second floor shops offer a wide range of clothing for both men and women, daily wear, hanbok, quilts, socks, and other miscellaneous goods for wholesale. The third floor features shops selling cosmetics, flowers, mats, wreaths, flower vases, and other household decorative items, especially flower shops where items can be purchased at prices much lower than market prices. In addition, shops selling tableware, electronic and electrical appliances, and other daily household necessities always welcome customers at wholesale prices. To provide convenience for customers visiting the Free Market, the underground parking lot, the side parking lot, and the rooftop parking lot are spacious enough to accommodate all visitors, and the underground area hosts a community savings bank and restaurants operating daily.
