Beomeosa Temple Overview

Beomeosa Temple is located at 546, Cheongnyong-dong, Geumjeong-gu, Busan. It is a millennium-old temple founded by Master Uisang in the 18th year of King Munmu of Silla (678 AD), and it is the largest and most historically significant Buddhist temple in Busan. Situated at the foot of Geumjeongsan Mountain, the temple offers a beautiful landscape that harmonizes with the changing natural scenery of each season.

Within the temple grounds, there are numerous nationally designated cultural properties, including the Daeungjeon Hall (Treasure No. 434), Iljumin Gate, Buli Gate, and Jogye Gate, allowing visitors to appreciate the essence of traditional Korean Buddhist architecture. Currently, admission is free, and the temple is open year-round without closure.

Templestay (a one-night, two-day program) is also operated, and reservations can be made at templestay.com. The autumn foliage season is the most beautiful, and the Geumjeongsan hiking course starting from Beomeosa Temple (approximately 4 hours round trip to Godang Peak) is also popular.
