Beomeosa Temple

Beomeosa Temple (범어사), founded in 678 AD by the eminent monk Uisang, is Busan's most historic and largest Buddhist temple complex, nestled in a valley on the slopes of Geumjeongsan Mountain. The approach through ancient pine and bamboo forests immediately creates a sense of sacred calm. The main hall (Daeungjeon) dates to the early Joseon dynasty and is designated a National Treasure. The temple grounds include over 20 sub-temples, hermitages, and pavilions spread across the forested hillside. Beomeosa is an active place of worship year-round, with morning chanting ceremonies at 5am open to visitors. In spring, the temple's mountain path transforms into a cherry blossom tunnel.
