Songdo Beach
Songdo Beach Overview
Songdo Beach holds the distinction of being the first officially designated public beach in Korea, opened in 1913 during the Japanese colonial period. Located in Seo-gu on the western side of Busan, it has recently undergone a dramatic renaissance with the addition of Songdo Ocean Sky Walk (a transparent cliff-hugging walkway), Songdo Ocean Cable Car (the longest and highest in Korea), and Amnam Park's forest trail along the cliff. The beach itself is smaller and quieter than Haeundae, making it ideal for visitors seeking a more relaxed seaside experience. The cable car glides out over the sea to a mid-station island and back, offering spectacular views of the coastline. The Jeollyeong Coastal Trail from Songdo to Huinnyeoul Village is a popular 2-hour walk.
