About the event
The Samgwangsa Lotus Lantern Festival is an event held at Samgwangsa Temple at the foot of Baegyangsan Mountain in Busanjin-gu, where tens of thousands of lotus lanterns are lit around Buddha's Birthday. The lantern tunnel running along the stairs and the lanterns filling the temple grounds are the main sights, and it was selected as one of the "50 Beautiful Places in Korea" chosen by US-based CNN in 2012. In 2026 the lanterns were lit every day from 7 p.m. to 1 a.m., from May 15 to 24, and viewing is free.
