Choryang Ibagu-gil Cafe Street

Choryang Ibagu-gil (이바구길 – Story Road) is a hillside heritage walking trail behind Busan Station, winding up the slopes where Korean War refugees built their lives. Ibagu means story in Gyeongsang dialect — and every alley here has one. The 168-step staircase (with a free monorail for the elderly) leads up past restored homes, open-air museums, and a growing cluster of artisan cafés with sweeping views over Busan Port and Yeongdo. The top viewpoint reveals a panorama of the harbor and Busan Grand Bridge below. It is one of Busan's most emotionally resonant places — a fascinating mix of wartime history, urban art, and indie café culture. Allow 2 hours and wear comfortable shoes.
