Jangsan Mountain Overview

Mount Jangsan rises prominently above the urban center of Busan, overlooking the Namhae Sea, and spans a broad area with diverse hiking routes. It offers views of Haeundae Marine City and Gwangan Bridge. As a volcanic mountain formed by lava flows, volcanic glasses, and pyroclastic materials from volcanic activity, it features magnificent geological formations such as the Jangsan Waterfall and stone ridges, providing exceptional coastal urban scenery. Mount Jangsan, a remnant structure of a caldera from the late Paleozoic era, holds high academic value for studying volcanic activity in the southeast of the Korean Peninsula. Especially along the foothills of Jangsan, volcanic rockfalls have formed long stretches of rock formations along the mountain's slopes. These rock formations are divided into nine branches, and by walking along the Jaesong Neuldeok trail that connects each formation, visitors can enjoy panoramic views of the Namhae and Donghae seas.
