Sanbok-doro Overview

Sanbok (meaning "mountain interior") refers to a road located at the topmost part of a sloping mountain area. The first Sanbok-doro, connecting Sandong-ne, was opened in October 1964, and a 1,820-meter stretch of Sanbok-doro stretching from the front of Meirin Hospital in Daecheong-dong, Jung-gu, to Choryang-dong, Dong-gu, Busan, was constructed throughout the city. These Sanbok-doro roads allow visitors to view the hidden stories and beautiful scenery nestled within mountainous terrain. Following a winding route along the mountain's midsection, one can see both the sea and the urban core of Busan at a glance. Particularly, houses located along the road feature rooftops that serve as both parking lots and observatories, capturing the attention of tourists. At night, the dazzling night view of Busan Harbor Bridge transforms the area into one of the finest night-view destinations. Houses extending from Mangyang-ro to the mountain peak emit their own lights, creating a distinct and exotic atmosphere.
