Eulsukdo Island
Eulsukdo Island Overview
Eulsukdo Island is a natural monument migratory bird habitat at the mouth of the Nakdonggang River in Saha-gu, Busan, a treasure trove of ecosystems where hundreds of thousands of migratory birds pass through every year. It preserves an internationally important wetland ecosystem, and with the Eulsukdo Cultural Center and an ecological park built alongside, it is an attraction where you can enjoy nature and culture at the same time.
Eulsukdo Island is one of the most important wintering grounds for migratory birds in Korea. Between October and April, you can observe dozens of species of winter migratory birds flying in from Siberia, China and elsewhere, such as mallards, Baikal teals, whooper swans and cranes. The Eulsukdo Eco Center operates birdwatching telescopes and guided interpretation services.
Walking along the ecological trail laid out along the mouth of the Nakdonggang River, you can observe a variety of wetland ecosystems up close, such as reed beds, tidal flats and sand islands. Ecological interpretation programs provided by the Eco Center are also available.
The Eulsukdo Cultural Center is the leading cultural performance venue in western Busan, running a variety of cultural programs year-round, including classical music, theater and film screenings.
It is also a midpoint of the Nakdonggang River cross-country bike path that connects to Samnak Ecological Park and Daejeo Ecological Park.
