Gijang Daebyeon Port Overview

Daebyeon Port in Gijang is Busan's largest anchovy fishing port, accounting for about 60% of Korea's anchovy production. Located on Gijanghaean-ro in Gijang-eup, Gijang-gun, it is the only place in the country where you can enjoy fresh live anchovy sashimi, especially in spring (March–June) and autumn (October to the Lunar New Year), the anchovy seasons.

At the seafood restaurants around the port, you can enjoy anchovy sashimi (live anchovies sliced on the spot), Anchovy Ssambap and anchovy Noodles. Besides anchovies, you can taste a variety of seafood from the waters off Gijang, such as octopus, sea urchin and snow crab, at reasonable prices.

Every April, the Gijang Anchovy Festival is held around Daebyeon Port with a variety of programs such as catching anchovies with bare hands, an anchovy cooking contest and fishing boat rides. We highly recommend a Gijang drive course combined with Haedong Yonggungsa Temple (10 min by car), Jukseong Catholic Church (10 min by car) and Gijang Premium Outlets (20 min by car).
